For Immediate Release
At the Libertarian Party of North Dakota’s annual state convention, held in Bismarck on May 22, 2012, at the Ramkota Inn, the Party unanimously passed a strong resolution condemning state lockdowns and other restrictions. For a full version, see lpnorthdakota.org.
In other business, the Party elected new officers: Adam Heupel of Fargo as Chair, Taylor Bakken of Williston as Vice Chair, Maggie Kohls of Bismarck as Secretary, and Del Ruff of West Fargo as Treasurer.
After passing several motions to clarify its existing bylaws, the Party also recommended that the Executive Committee officially welcome and ratify a new local affiliate, the North Dakota Bakken Libertarian Party, serving Williams and McKenzie County. The modified bylaws are also available on the Party’s website.
Party members enjoyed hearing from Spike Cohen, the 2020 candidate for U.S. Vice President, on the future of the Party; from Dave Owen explaining the initiative process in North Dakota; and from Brett Weiland, past Chair of the North Dakota Libertarian Party, on recent draconian lockdowns and business restrictions in North Dakota. Weiland also served as auctioneer in the fundraiser.
One necessary order of business was the vote to expel Roland Riemers for conduct unbecoming a libertarian.
The next statewide meeting will be in Minot on August 7,2021, 1 PM, location to be determined.
